I am SO excited over this book! My DIL, Ryann brought it by tonight on her way home from church. Just skimming through for a few minutes has gleaned some ideas I can't wait to try with Little Red Chief and the Grandlittles!
Here are some sprinkles of golden dust so far:
* Feel the sunshine on your face as you kick a ball.
* Experiment at a sink full of water to see which things sink and which ones float.
Also -
It has songs like one of my favorites as a child... carried on to be some of my kids' favorites and now I am teaching it to grandlittles!
Hush Little Baby
Hush, little baby, don't say a word,
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird. (I always replace Papa with Mama:)
If that mockingbird don't sing,
Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring.
If that diamond ring turns brass,
Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass.
If that looking glass gets broke,
Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat.
If that bill goat won't pull,
Papa's gonna buy you a cart and bull.
If that cart and bull turn over,
Papa's gonna buy you a dog named Rover.
If that dog named Rover won't bark,
Papa's gonna buy you a horse and card.
If that horse and cart fall down,
You'll still be the sweetest little girl (boy) in town.
I will end with a quote shared from a page in the book:
"You want to give children practice with solving their anger and frustration without you. Give them a start, but then move away and see if they can solve them on their own." Rebecca Kantor, Ed.D.
